You are welcome to visit us at the Heraldry Centre in Northgate, Canterbury. The building is the property of The Trustees of The Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies. It comprises a 13th century hall house, built by monks to accommodate pilgrims who arrived at Canterbury after the nightly closing of the North Gate, with later additions from the Georgian period, and the reigns of both Queens Elizabeth. The building houses the Institutes comprehensive library, collections and resources for research.

Achievements

You can make an appointment to discuss prospects for research and get things started. The experience of professional genealogists is available. If you are conducting research yourself and are "stuck", you may have a consultation. You will receive advice and directions as to the sensible next steps to take.
