Pirate Ancestry
Recently the subject of pirates has experienced a surge in popularity, and the possibility of finding a pirate in your family tree is a beguiling one.  Pirate ancestry is a difficult thing to trace, for the criminal element of the 16th and 17th centuries rarely had much regard for sacramental records, and were unlikely to want to be traced, even for the purposes of genealogy!  However, some privateers came from established families and retired to respectable lives, and for these there is a greater chance of being able to discover their lineage and pedigree.  In our Articles section you'll find known histories of six of the most famous pirates to sail the seas - Teach, Kidd, Rackham, Bonny, Read and Morgan.  Perhaps these family names link to your own ancestry, and we would be pleased to help trace your lineage in these areas using our professional genealogical skills and extensive library.  Whether pirate or not, we can reveal your own family tree.
